The 2019 mockbuster Monster Island from The Asylum, which was released around the same time as Godzilla: King of the Monsters, is about an island called Monster Island where a monster may be discovered, who is sort of the island, the Monster Island, if you will.


This movie is about an asylum and has a budget that's about the same as a large kid's meal. It makes good use of it. The movie focuses on a few main characters, and all sequences are shot on one set. We must not forget that this film is a kaiju movie, (first post) and they are pretty good at it, so perhaps The Asylum won’t be as bad.
